Who the f**k is Danielle?

It’s me!

A bit of a goth punk, fairy creature with three grown up children who have inherited my love of the bizarre and are often integral to my potty processes.

I have been a creative soul for the whole of my life, always making things and making a mess for as long as I can remember. The professional side of this began in the very early 2000s when I gained a qualification in beauty therapy with extra credits in theatrical and practical effect makeup. I quickly became the go-to in the salons I worked in for any makeup or nail art challenges we were presented with. I still do nails and makeup for friends and family, always the last to be ready.

The next development involved a job in a wedding stationery business, initially employed as a craft worker; gluing, cutting, tying bows, but I progressed onto the digital side, learning how to make designs and layouts on a computer, learning how to edit a website and proofread. The wedding industry was learning that you didn’t always have to have traditional themes and styles anymore, it was a fun time to be working in this field. I have continued to dabble in this industry ever since.

This was when I made the huge decision to go freelance and allow my creativity to run wild. My evolution as an artist and creator was allowed to bloom as I was asked to design book covers for Immanion Press (a local publishing house), this led to book layouts, which led to editing which led to website design. I taught myself to use Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and gained many other incredibly useful skills.

Alongside this I thought it would be a great idea to take on another skillset, well to reignite a skillset I had been neglecting since college. This was the birth of the sugar sculptress, in other words I got into the cake making game, and did really well with it. I specialised in sculpted and carved cake designs, a lot of hard work and long hours but satisfying for both my pocket and creative desires. It was all going so well….

And then it was 2020, the cake industry slowed to snails pace and an illness at Immanion Press meant that there was no longer as much work. So I adapted and became a more traditional sculptor and the mother to many tiny plague doctors (who are still practicing in the community) with a bit of man eating plant on the side.

Slight pause for a brief stint of real world employment - would not recommend.

And now I’m here. A long term health condition has forced me to cut back on my real world work and I’ve been able to find my passion for creativity again, working when I can with beautiful, sparkly things. I couldn’t be happier. I love working for myself, I have space to be truly creative and truly me
